Hmmm

I started this blog when I moved to this city because I wanted to share the experience of becoming the girl I always wanted to be. And because I truly do love to write. And share. But I think it needs direction. I think I'm going to devote some time each week to writing about the new and exciting Windy City things I've done. For instance, I ate at 2 really awesome restaurants last week. Mon Ami Gabi had fab steak and real champagne and was perfect for my romantic surprise birthday dinner date :) I loved it!

I also stumbled across OBriens in Old Town. The Obrien burger was top notch, with parmesan, white truffle oil and arugula. Amazing!!!!!

This week, I threw a Birthday Party for myself and my roommate. On a shoeeeeeestring budget. And People had an awesome time. It was a ballerina and boxed wine party. People came in tutus with their cups ready to be filled :) It was such an awesome time!!!!

Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head

It seems that even rain has a greater charm, more appeal even, when it is falling onto the streets of Chicago. People bring out colorful golashes and umbrellas and scurry down streets trying to stay dry as they travel to the train. Even rain can't dampen the city, make the movement stop.

A Review

Today, my coworker and I decided to have a quick lunch to discuss a project we were working on. Walking down Belmont, we saw a sign for a 5.95 lunch special in the window of Sweet Tamarind, and on the intern salary we share, though this seemed right up our alley.

The only ones in the restaraunt, the mood was incredibly relaxing, with lovely tables and a colorful decor. The orange walls and Thai art pieces carried us off Belmont and away from the Theatre Building postcard we were working on.

For 5.95, we got a little spicy salad (great, but careful once you get to the bottom! It's hot!!!), a bowl of lemongrass chicken and rice soup, and an entree with jasmine rice. I had pepper and garlic chicken and Cory had yellow curry chicken. Wow! The food was great and the waitstaff incredibly polite and quick to refill our glasses of water. Unfortunately, no one else wandered in during our lengthy lunch break. If you are in the Lakeview area and enjoy some delicious Thai cuisine, make your way over to Sweet Tamarind! Let's keep them in business, please :)

Good Morning Sunshine :)

What a glorious day!

It's been quite a while since an update, but I promise I'll keep up better than I have been...

I just can't get enough of this weather. I mean, it is just amazing. It makes me want to picnic and play hooky and steal away to stroll down Michigan Ave and peer into all the store windows. Especially Tiffany's. Nothing better than sunshine and diamonds, right? Or go to the zoo and watch the polar bears and meercats after stopping at Swirlz for a cupcake.

On a cloudier note, work was tough today. Sometimes that's just the way it goes. As soon as I was outside the lobby of the theatre, the bad day feeling was over.

The sunshine has melted away all the snow outside my window and it feels like the start of something new again. Everything is cleaner, warmer, and the wintry feel of ice has crumbled away. Maybe that means something good is on the way. Something happy is going to appear. I just have to have a little faith in it.

So now I'm going to listen to cars whizzing by and mothers pushing strollers on evening walks in the not quite chilly breeze...

I love this city tonight. I love this city always.
